Books

I both love and hate books. As you’d probably imagine, like most things about me, I make everything very convoluted. But I’ll try to explain why I both love and hate books.
Well, I guess really it's not that complex, like everything else in my life my attention span when it comes to books is limited. I have to blaze through a book to be able to really appreciate it, and I rarely read the same book twice, it's not often I even read the same author twice unless their style is vastly different. My book shelf if incredibly full, but looking over at it now I can instantly see so many that I start and then put back. Don't get me wrong I always intend to finish them.
Usually my experience with reading goes like this. I spend some time in a book store. I love book stores. And something catches my eye as is normal. So I pick it up and read the blurb, sometimes this is enough. And I put it back. But sometimes I get to the buying stage, but then, sometimes I get home, find a place for it on my shelf, and then never pick it up again. Looking over I can see 'The Beach' with a unbroken spine growing dusty and still waiting for me. A couple of other books I open on the way home or throughout my day, and I made it through the prologue and then left it to suffer. So now the books i've actually finished. It always happens over the course of a few days, or even less. 'The Picture of Dorian Grey' is a good example, I got it, opened it, and then finished it. I did take breaks for you know, bodily functions and stuff, but I was always longing to get back to it the moment I put it down.
And then when I finish I just wallow in self pity. If there's a sequel to a book I'll probably go and get it straight away. But if not I just roll around discontent. Sometimes I get to the last page or chapter and just refuse to go on for a few days, not wanting it to end. But eventually I always go back and take that last bite.
I don't like long books though. Because to me by the time I've read enough pages it begins to feel like a different book, and I give up. This is especially the case if they're set over and long period of time.
So yeah, that's me and books. Don't really know what else to say really. Other than that I loath Wuthering Heights.
